We Are Realized
Two Broken Ribs Have Made Me Shout
Kids Were Asleep But It Still Came Out
I Can Hear Cries.
Nurses Full Of Questions And Do Not Quit
Poking My Sides But I Will Not Admit
That I Love His Brown Eyes.
Return Me Home And I'll Creep Up The Stairs
That Broke My Fall When His Patience Tears
So A Temper Can Rise.
He Put The Kids To Bed With Wind And The Willows
And Said Happily Ever After As My Tears Hit The Pillow
We Are Realized

Can I Bum A Cigarette For The Road?
You Wake Red Wine Lips
Into Bedsheets Of Fallen Ash
And Cups Filled With Tarred Filters
Who Drown In Cold Separated Coffee
And No Thirst Left From All That Drinking
There's Hoarseness From Trusting Her Hips
On Drunken Occasions When Yours Clash
And Crash Before Her Morning Fag Ends
And Both Are Put Out Ever So Silently
And Drown In My Wishful Thinking

Astrophil And Stella
I Roll My Cigarettes Because The Times Call For It
For Soon Dawn Will Stiffens My Eyes So In My Bed I Sit
With My Bedroom Window Being Lit By A Sky
Of Stars That Comforted Me When Whiskey Is On Standby,
They Are My Only Means Of Getting High

Skirt/Hurt
Cigarette Smoke And Sheets Cover Nothing
But Falling Heat And What She's Already Felt
Like Your Hand Seeking Out From Your Bedside
To Her Reddened Thigh As She Phones A Taxi
Pulling Up Her Skirt On Which You Have Dried
Denied Until My Empty Room Can Relax Me
But Here It Wasn't Heard Between The Song Changes
Or Spoken With Both Our Head Failing To Sleep
On One Shared Pillow With Only Morning To Follow
Outside These Sheets There's No Rise Nor Fall
And You Wonder Was It Like Before Coming Hollow
Are You Sure There Was Ever Something At All

N.Y.Excommunication
The Trail From My Cigarette Leads Away
And Crossbreeds Through Your Hands
And Laced Hairstrands So Pillows Won't Forget
But It Hits That Dick You Were Talking To
When You Do A Chaste Hair Flick
With Sweated Fingers Edging Waistbands
Till Running Hands Leave You Greasy By Morning
And Please Say That Long Shower You Took
Was So There's No Braced Goodbye At The Door
And You Sit Like A Woman Of The Wastelands
Wishing To Be Heartbroke On That Bathroom Floor
Just So You Could Wash Out The Smell Of Smoke

As You Go
Now, In Her Chair She Decides When She Comes And Goes,
Going Back To Recall That Unnaturally Hot Day
In The Middle Of June As The Lack Of Hands In The Milk Parlor
First Hit Her Hard Taking Blood And Breath
This All Before She Wondered Where The Sea And Sky Collide,
Before Grey Eased Across Her Frontier Fence
During The Winter's Nights And Never Lifted With The Mornings
She Took Each Post Slow And Scattered Far
From Where She Had Marked And Placed Them Back In Spring
Wrapping The Wire Around Her Calloused Hands
Until There Were No Need For The Extended Families Names
Or Which Road Leads To Parishes She Had Forgotten
All But A Few Words And Numbers Making Up A Bronx Street
From Which She Awaited Reply To Long Posted Letters

Locked Out Of The Bluehouse
The Last Time I Spoke To Frances She Asked
What Was That Neil Young Lyric Kurt Used
Before Cracking The Plastic Of The Cap
And Then Leaving
Some Room For The Coke
Wondering Had We Missed Out
On A Shakey Youth In Toronto Or Seattle
Until I Reminded Her How Few Summers Were Behind Us
Yeah, I Guess School-less Weeks Are Longer Than We Care To Notice
We Drove To Speech-less Radio As She Dropped Again In Her Seat
Until We're Into The Black Of The Carpark Beside Her House
The Mirror Fixed Her Hair As She Perfumed Her Clothes
And I Checked Her Eyes
Until The Passenger
Door Closed
And Opened Much Later By My Sister
Who Asked Had I A Girl Here
Lingering Mixed Spirits Forced Me To Say
I Did

Lost In The Sky With Diamonds
From Here I Do Not Know My Way
For I'm Lost In What You Say Is Your Natural Hair Color
And All Those Other Things Your Clothes Hide
Like Those Constellation Of Freckles
That Guide Me By The Night
For Joni Said That The Northern Star
Is Always In The Darkness And I May Be Blind
But John's Son Said Unless Its Your Eyes That I Relight
I'll Live Them All As Starless Nights

'Here's Looking At You, Kid'
A Night Spent Circling Lost Lovers
What All Of The Lads Did
And I Spose' I Was The Worst
Trying To Undo What Was Undid
Subtle With Actions And Words
To The First Few And We Stood
For That Old School Group
Had The Same Bruising Boyhood
Which Seen Itself Call
After The First Few Shorts
As We Pass That Stage
With Jack Taking Our Supports
For No Warning Of Early Ones
Could Keep Us On Edit
As One The Lads Broke
Down In The Gray's Toliet
Unheard Over The Music
But We Knew What Was Said
The Same Things We Would
Only Spoke Hours Ahead

'I Could Drink A Case Of You And I'd Still Be On My Feet'
The Gum Under The Seat Was Left With Just Enough Taste
Not To Be Wrapped In A Receipt But The Barman's Face
Shows He's Well Use To It, Flicking Matches Away
So The Bar Isn't Just Lit With That Trying Bouquet
Of Hairspray And Fake-tan From The Last Barstool
Who's Fun Just Began When The Kids Left Pre-school
'It's A Wonder' Laughs Jack 'She Don't Slip Down It'
His Teeth A Dirt Track From The Tobacco He Doesn't Spit
Then His Feet Fill His Shoes And Speaks So Its Taken Up Wrong
'Are You One Of Them Women Who's Not Real Without Makeup On?'
With Hands Cupping His Belt Buckle Till She Ceases Her Cough
She Loves Her Gin And Trouble And This Earns Him A Jerk-off
The Barman Has A Double Ready When She Returns Back
Her Ice Cracked And Sweaty Long Before Jack
Had Ever Tried His Hand For Here In Old Paul's
She Is Always In Demand But Only Before The School Bell Calls

'Maybe We've Been Trying To Get To Where We've Always Been'
There's Grit In Spring's Gut
And It's Showing On The Leaf's Other Side
You'll Know What's What
For The Same Words The Months Replied
So Next Year I Don't
And Maybe I Won't Hate March As Much
Dying By This Quote
The Fall Won't Be As Hard To Mis-Judge

'Every Place I Go I Take Another Place With Me'
I Heard What We Lost
Out Behind Old Paul's
All Of My Borrowed
Clothes You Stripped Off
And The Falling Snow
Made Your Skin Soft
So It Wouldn't Break
And You Won't Be Lost
In His Whispered Words
In Which Your Washed
But They Won't Keep You
Or Fight Off The Frost

Pretty Girl Across The Bar
I Wish We Had More
So I Could Fill This Verse
Not Knowing Your Name
Will Leave Me Broken Or Worse
